Overview
Excavations at Nassington have produced
an unbroken ceramic series from the mid Late Saxon period to the present.
In general the pottery assemblage includes a wide range of material
contemporary with the associated manor and its lifetime. Small quantities of
Roman and Prehistoric pottery have been recovered with a larger amount of
Early-Middle Saxon, a large amount of Late Saxon pottery, Saxo-Norman wares
Medieval wares and later Medieval pottery. The Post Medieval pottery represents
a very large ceramic group until the provisions of refuse collection in the
district, after which there are almost no finds.
